When did I get so indecisive?

I suppose I won't have any choice but to take the offer eventually. It's not like people are going to fall out of the sky offering me record deals. And I'm not one of those pretty girls that can make millions off of the Internet alone.

[A somewhat deflated sigh, as her optimism continues to dip.]

I wasn't ready for the amount of scratching and clawing it looks like I'm about to need to do. I think that's the trouble.

[ He could say something about her being one of those pretty girls, but his cheek is pressed against his arm as he shifts and that makes it hard to talk. Having a home, parents or other guardianship to look after you, those are things he'd taken for granted too, however ready he was for the work he knew he'd have to put into living on his own. ]

You always have time.

[ A month, right? And if it doesn't work out, she still has her parents. ]

What's the job?

Cleaning out guests' rooms at a Bed and Breakfast, laundry stuff...That sort of thing.

Nothing too difficult, I don't think. In exchange, I'll get a room for as long as I need one.

...Doesn't sound so bad, right? Nothing I didn't get really good at in military school.

Yeah. So I don't know why you're doubting yourself. Plus, you get to live and work in the same place, saves you the travel time.

[ Minato lifts a hand and motions somewhere behind his back, probably at the wall where a clock hangs, although he's off by several feet. ]

[ Too lazy to go home when he has a shift in 8 more hours, might as well spend the night, etc. ]

[She can't help but smile at him. What the heck is he trying to point at, though?]

They should really just give you your own bed here.

Or at least a sleeping bag in the break room...

That would be nice. [ TBH he has thought about bringing a sleeping bag in, or even a blanket, but that would make his intentions too obvious, wouldn't it? Not like his falling asleep back there every day hides any of that. ]

Once winter sets in, though, I've got one of those puffy winter coats. It'd be like wearing a sleeping bag.

[ I just googled this but laughs, these exist, he's going to buy one of these ]

Your posture is already...questionable, at best.

Sleeping on the floor will help straighten out my back.

I know you're the anatomy expert and all, but I really don't think that's how that works.

[That said, she's smiling and laughing because that's so him.]

[ There are scientific articles about the health benefits of sleeping on the cold, hard ground but I'm half asleep myself and so is Minato so he just digs out his phone, opens up Google, and starts tapping in the relevant search terms to bring up the articles, pretend he's showing them to her just to prove his point. It was a joke, but actually not really. He's put thought into this before. ]

[ Yea, she can police his sleeping habits at a later time, for now, he's going to take advantage of hard ground and sleeping bags with sleeves.

[ He doesn't mean it in the "What do you mean? I'm funny all the time!" sort of way, but the "I'm never funny ever, don't slander me like this" sort of way. ]

The less you try to be funny, the funnier you are, Minato.

...Yeah. You're one of the only people who smiles and laughs around me. I think that has more to do with you than with me, though.

I think it has to do with both of us and our delightful chemistry together.

[Nudges his arm in an attempt to get him to smile, the latest of many failed attempts, probably.]

[ His brows draw together like he's trying to figure out what sort of expression he's supposed to be making, but smiling isn't one of them. ]

Selective affinity... Makes sense. Even inert elements can interact in the presence of highly active ones.

[Her lips tremble for a moment before bursting out in laughter.]

[The nudge on his arm graduates to a pat on the shoulder.]

I will say that that is a good way of putting it. I am glad that I am active enough to coax interaction out of you, Minato.

[ Personal spaceeeeee... He has no defense against shoulder pats either, so instead of pulling away, he sits there until Angela feels awkward enough to stop on her own. ]

You can be less active and I'd still interact with you. Like when you sing and stuff.

[ He shakes his head. ]
